Astragalus?

Hello,

 

I found this bone in my usual spot in Portugal. The formation it's marine from Miocene period.I never found a bone like this before. Maybe a astragalus? And if yes, from what can be? The fossil have 2cm.

Eu also found a phalanx. My first in this spot. From what can be?

Cool fossils! They definitely look mammalian, and seeing that your sediments are marine pinniped (seals, sea lions, etc) is a good possibility.

I'm sure Boesse can confirm (or infirm) that.

I think the first one is a cuboid which is one of the foot bones.  The second does look like a phalanx of something like a camel or an antelope which would be very unusual from a marine site.  Harry Pristis or Fossillarry would have a better idea but they and others might need additional photos to narrow down the identification.

You may find some similarity with a bone in this post

It may be a marine mammal humerus.

I don't recognize the cuboid. That's not to say it's not pinniped - it's just not a commonly preserved element and so I haven't memorized what it looks like in different pinniped groups like I have for the calcaneum and astragalus.

Bobby did not comment on the 2nd bone which makes me nervous in my identification.  I am pretty sure that this is a dolphin humerus, especially if found in a miocene marine environment.
