Is it a fossil?

I found this while I was walking through a creek on my families property in Ashland, OH.  I took this into my geology professor and asked him what he thought it might be.  He said that it might be a section from a piece of Horn Coral but that he also was not sure.  Any insight would be helpful.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

I think it's a section of rugose coral as well, with an encrusting bryozoan attached. (2nd Picture)

That is a near ringer for the first fossil I ever found by myself! I was six, walking down Linner Road in Wayzata, Minnesota, collecting agates from the native roadbed.

Chances are that I still have it...somewhere.
Thanks for triggering a slew of memories :)
