Travis K.
I found a few fossils while on a hunting trip. The fossil Im most curious about is in the first 2 pictures. Any Idea what it might be? Third picture seems like obvious marine fossils.
Herb
looks like a crinoid stem to me 1 "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"_ Carl Sagen No trees were killed in this posting......however, many innocent electrons were diverted from where they originally intended to go. Tidgy's Dad
The first is an orthoconic nautiloid. Edit; Herb may be right, actually it could be a section of crinoid stem. The second looks like a solitary rugose 'horn' coral 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Bronzviking
Agree with the guys, crinoid stem. Here's a pic:
Fossildude19
The first item looks tapered, like an orthoconic nautiloid. Could be a crinoid stem, but it would have to be extracted to make that determination. 4 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Travis K.
Thanks for all the replies! Fossildude19, I do not think it is tapered. Thanks for taking a look!
Herb
it is a weathered crinoid stem with the internal features showing. Stem right below the calyx are often slightly tapered. Common in the Ft.Payne formatiom.
