Hi, I’m wondering if this could be a trilobite embedded in this rock? If not, could it be some other identifiable fossil or fossil fragment? It is in a creek in middle Tennessee, in an area that is Mississippian with St. Louis Limestone & Warsaw Limestone. Thanks. ~ Tracey

Gotcha. Well, that hope was squashed rather quickly.

Thanks all the same though! :)

It is covered with matrix which makes it hard to see what it is.

Need to take a pin to it and see if You can expose more.

Oh, it’s in the middle of a creek. Lol.

Btw, what do you mean by pin? An air scriber type thing? I’ve read several posts which mentioned those, but do not really know what they look like.

Here is a pin vise I got for a buck via China. I just stick a sewing needle in and tighten the collar:

Any time! This tool has been a very valuable one in the prep arsenal. If you're not quite ready to commit to air scribe and abraders, this is definitely a major step in the right direction (and dirt cheap, too).

this is what I am going to try on the fish plate I bought from Holdinghistory.  It is the business end of a 22ga needle.  And yes, it was obtained legally/legitimately :)
