Ok...We all know there are a ton of shark lovers out there. However, there are other fish in the sea and I'd really love to see what y'all have. So anything from Agnathians to rayfins..etc Lets see em!

I will start with a few of my favorites...post-1313-12522388063269_thumb.jpgpost-1313-1252238946067_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522390551543_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522391116001_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522391634068_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522392115892_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522392540193_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522393062686_thumb.jpgpost-1313-12522393913931_thumb.jpg

One of the hardest for me to find is this Aganath, post-1313-12522436961979_thumb.jpgAmericaspis which is about as primitive a fish as it gets.

Rhacolepis buccalis...post-1313-12522437836519_thumb.jpg

...and Vinctifer comptoni...post-1313-12522438161827_thumb.jpg

Both fish are from the Santana Formation of Brazil and the two most frequently mis-ided fish I see offered for sale.

I have to say..to be where you can find your own is just...wow. I especially love the fish in the siderite nodule. Do you have a species on that?

Sorry to say, I have never been in a position Geographically to field collect anything like the ones pictured (by you or me).

My best personal fish so far are Enchodus parts and this Barracuda..

Frank.... Id..I think.... palaeoniscid... of some description, your probably better read to have a guess at it than me.... they wernt common, there were 3 examples found in 8 years of collecting at that site... the other two were less complete....

Very nice Jaw section....

Ive Resized it... it was too big...

Been trying to get my hands on a copy of Dineley and Metcalf's book (harder to find than the fish). Far from an expert here but the tail reminds me of Osteolepis.

Here in my part of NC we don't have shales or good nodules so what we do find are bones and teeth.

Enchodus

Since you asked...

I have no idea what this guy is or where he/she/it came from. I know that I picked this fossil up for a song at a flea market at least ten years ago.

Any identification, fish-heads? :D

Nice gelberti Fig, I love the fish that come out of Germany and the British isles. Here is a Paleonissci that might have swam with your fish (an unusual dorsal preservation).

Nice photos everyone... I might post a few of mine later if that's ok. I don't have any photos saved yet.

Frank, I really like the fish from Scotland. I'm half scottish so that was cool to see. If you ever want to part with it send me a pm.

Ok, here are a couple of mine...

This first one is a complete mystery. The person I acquired it from didn't know where it was collected from, how old it is, or its name. If you all have any ideas as to an ID I would love to know. I feel bad for this poor fish because the prep job is terrible. The matrix is really heavy and dense. It almost looks like they started and stopped and then decided just to polish it smooth. I would love to work on it a bit more, but I wouldn't know where to begin with matrix like this. I think I paid something like 10 bucks for it. I thought it was a good deal considering it is quite large.

post-1234-12523043772811_thumb.jpg

The second is a split pair from California I believe. Nothing exotic but I really like split pairs.

post-1234-12523043128345_thumb.jpg

And finally, a couple mortality plates. I don't remember the name of the fish on the left off the top of my head. The plate on the right is knightia. Plates like these, even of common fish, are amongst my favorites as well (I seem to have a lot of favorites).

post-1234-1252304458688_thumb.jpg

I also recently added the big Nematonotus plate at the bottom of the page I'm linking you to. I couldn't resist the interesting kissing articulation. These are the type of fossils my wife likes too so that helps.

You guys have some wonderful fish specimens, I've never found one yet although I bought a cheap one for reference at a local rock shop.

Unfortunately I don't seem to have the photos on hand so I'll post them later. Although they aren't by any means comparable to the above.

<chanting...X-man, X-man, X-man!> Just hoping for a chance to see a Golden Drool Bucket Fish, again. Besides, I think if you lined up all the wonderful fish posted thus far, this Xiphactinus audax would be bigger...(nothing against the others; just making a size comparison). Please X-man????Please?

OK, OK....pix tonight when I get home. Besides, I have a new fish fossil I prepped yesterday. It's a reaaaally cool "pelvis" from a Kansas fish. Not huge (for Kansas at least). Probably a small Xiphactinus or medium Gillicus...8-9 footer.
