i have a gastropod and i don't know what species it is

Hello, and welcome to the Forum. :) 

 

This does look like a gastropod steinkern, which can be a bit trickier to identify down to the species. 

 

As I'm assuming based on the tags this was collected at Lyme Regis, some of our members who collect from there should be weighing in at some point in the near future.

Welcome to the Fossil Forum from Texas. 

How big is it? Some gastropods can get quite large. So size references are helpful.
