Is this part of an egg from some kind of species long ago or just a rock?

Welcome to TFF!

Thanks for posting pictures here.

This rock is not a egg or any type of fossil.

It looks like a chert nodule.

Just a rock sorry

No such thing as "just a rock".

Every rock has a story to tell, most are very interesting if You learn to "listen" to them.

If this still had the other half connected to it, it would be the size and shape of say a football... Are chert nodules normally that large?

What is a chert nodule?

A concretion of silica dioxide (SiO2) a cryptocrystalline quartz mineral.

They form in sedimentary rocks, and can get quite large.

All this time, I finally get answers about what it is. But it totally looks like a giant egg! Even has cracks and missing chunks on it's thin, outer surface just like an egg would have. Well thank you all for your answers!

When a cryptocrystalline quartz is exposed to the weather the silica will bond with water at the surface. The longer it is exposed the more hydration occurs. This will form a shell like layer on the rock.
