A few things from the Silurian (Llandovery) Cotton Formation near Forbes, NSW Australia. Most of these specimens are currently undescribed, but a paper will be released on them soon. One of my strophomenid brachiopods from the site will be in the paper, so I'll post it when it comes out, since they're a pain to photograph.

The smallest Sinespinaspis (Odontopleura) markhami I've ever seen (aprox. 4mm wide). I'll post some bigger and better preserved ones later.

A currently undescribed platyceratid gastropod. They're not that rare, but this is the best one I have...

Undescribed crinoid. Only one I've ever seen or heard of from the site. I might also have a calyx of some kind of echinoderm, but not too sure.

Some undescribed straight nautiloids. All were found on the same trip, and also the only ones I've ever seen or heard of from the site.

This one shows the chambers well.

And a cross section of a chamber. Note the siphuncle in the centre.

  • 3 weeks later...

Tremendous, and seemingly important finds! :)

The trilobites are beautiful and the orthoconic nautiloids very exciting..

Any chance of some piccies of the brachiopod (s) ?

Please.
