Collection date: May 28, 2018

Received from prep artist (or genius): October 23, 2018.  Prepped by Forum member Malcolmt.

Species: Eldredgeops rana 

Locality: Penn-Dixie Fossil Park, Blasdell, NY

Age/Formation: Middle Devonian/Windom Shale, Hamilton Group

Largest trilobite is 3.5 cm.

Thanks everyone. It got pretty broken up when I split the block, but Malcolmt did s great job of putting Humpty Dumpty together again.

I love the Eldredgeops! My favorite things about the multiple plates are their randomness. Cool!

Wow, the competition is tough again this month! I feel like the rarity of this little guy is worth a shot though especially after missing the deadline by a few hours with a better example i found last month! I’ve searched a pretty good bit and have yet to find a similar piece so I'm leaning towards it being an undescribed species.

Species: Hybodus 

Locality: Southeast Alabama

Age/Formation: Blufftown Formation (Campanian)

Here is my find for Vertebrate Fossil of the Month.

It is the most special thing I ever found on a fossil hunting trip.

 

I found it on October 23rd. 2018

 

Trichechus

Manatee vertebrae

 

Late Pleistocene, ca. 50,000-10,000 old.

 

Edisto Beach.  Undetermined offshore unit, Charleston County, S.C.

My second Vertebrate entry for this months competition.

 

3 Perfect Articulated Ichthyosaur vertebrae with partial verts on either side of them. Neural arch included and a single rib

 

Date of discovery, 16th September, Received back from prep by Mark Hawkes on 4th of October.

Whitby Mudstone Formation

Yorkshire, England
