Member of the Month - October 2018- Rockwood

Kane

Recommended Posts

The season of colour is upon us, and while young people snap pictures of their pumpkin spice lattes for social media, gourds of many shapes and sizes get stacked along fall mums at the grocery store, and the bags of tooth filling removal Halloween candy adorn our shelves in their seasonal black and orange, it is October. And with it comes a new Member of the Month.

This month's worthy recipient for being fitted with the crown goes to...

:yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1:     Rockwood  :yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1::yay-smiley-1:

For nearly seven years, this Maine gentleman has graced our forum with insightful and thought provoking ID answers, played devil's advocate for alternative identifications, added some humour, and classic New England practicality and personality to his posts. His rare but interesting fossils from his home state prove that there are things to be found there. :) Of course, there was this incident with dried paint, but that is not an item for discussion! :D

Dale, Thanks for all you do and contribute here on the Forum!

Congratulations Sir! Wear this Crown with joy as you earned it!

Here is your opportunity to tell us your story - about your passion for fossils, and how you came to TFF!

On behalf of the staff here on TFF, congratulations!

Congratulations Dale I always like the humour you inject into your posts . You have helped me in the past with IDs and I do always pay attention to the help you offer others.  I do remember you gauged the size of fossil that a member was looking for an ID on, by comparing the grain of the oak desktop it was sitting on.     :D

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

I can't really share too much about the way I got started collecting out of respect for the privacy of my traveling partner. Suffice it to say I didn't follow the path of finding a trilobite when I was five years old.
