Drufeus
Been having some heavy wind and storms. Found this on the shore of Lake Ontario in Henderson Harbor, NY. From what I have researched online and previous posts, thinking this is Spyroceras? Decent size too. Very happy with this and found it in a couple pieces so had to glue back together. Can anyone confirm or help to to ID? Rock is mostly Shale and Limestone. Area Ordovician in age from what I have been told. Drufeus
No problem. Blew my mind when I saw this on a split rock I walk by 4 times a day. Shale is so delicate and the layer it was on was falling off the rock. Might as well save it Edited October 2, 2018 by Drufeus
Darktooth
No that is not Spyroceras but I can't say what it is either. It does look like a cephalopod of some sort but none that I am familiar with. Quite large as well. Maybe @Jeffrey P @mikeymig or @Fossildude19 can help I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie. fossilcrazy
Possible Endoceras (an Ordovician). Orthocones are difficult to place in exact species without more details about sphuncle, septa, test ornamentation etc.

mikeymig
If I found it, and wanted to create a label for the specimen, I would print - Straight Shelled Nautiloid, Possibly Ordovician, Lake Ontario shoreline, Henderson Harbor, N.Y. Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin
