Onslow Beach find

Good afternoon, I found this item during a during a pre Hurricane  Florence visit to Onslow Beach. It seems to have some earmarks of a bone but the shape is very unusual. I am also leaning towards it being an interesting piece of nothing.Thank you in advance for any and all assistance.

I collect the North end of Topsail Beach from time to time and have found worn down chunks of bone, but to me this looks like rock (phosphate maybe ?) The crevices holding sediment look more like rock than bone to me. I guess a chunk of turtle bone or whale vertebrae is possible. Sorry, I couldnt be more decisive.

Not sure you can really pin something down, with how worn this piece is. :unsure:  :headscratch:  :shrug:

Thank you fossildude19 and goatinformationist for your responses.  I will continue to research using your input. I know that pinpointing what it is may prove futile, but I love to learn and having your input really helps focus my search.
