Hello, I recently recieved an unidentified ammonite as a present and was told it came from Gotland, Sweden. However, I cannot find any information on ammonite finds from Gotland, and it looks a lot like a Madagascan Perisphinctes to me. Any thoughts? 

 

The scale is in centimeters.

I agree with your suggestion.  Gotland is famous for its Silurian fauna, but it has no Mesozoic.  Your ammonite is a typical Madagascar perisphinctid.

I would agree with this assessment. Even the matrix clinging to it screams Madagascar.
