What a generous group we have here. This year, Santa's package arrived all the way from Australia, full of a wonderful assortment of Australian fossils, and every one of them cleared for export. Thanks for making all that extra effort to get them cleared, Santa! A great addition to my collection! I'm especially fond of the echinoids. Thank you! Super Santa! I like the whole lot, I think! Tidgy's Dad
On 12/27/2018 at 4:09 AM, snolly50 said: Well, of course snolly didn't make the stated schedule; but here is a brief reveal of the most bountiful and bestest Secret Santa offering in all of Forumdom. As suggested above this Santa must truly be tolerant of a "little" naughty behavior; because snolly was gifted with a stupendous assortment of very desirable fossils - a horde far exceeding any expectation. Here are a few images! An overview - check it out! The gracious donor filled a smaller PO box and somehow decided that was not enough and put the small box in a bigger box with a host more goodies. Notice the included display aides on the left side. Included were even a couple of those membrane holders - all very useful stuff! Here's a peek at the central section. Take note of the large lovely Ordovician gastropod plate. It is a very appealing color of pale bluish-green. It's the kind of piece an interior decorator would snatch up as an room accent. Below, look at the scads of Mazon Creek wonders - a great variety. Now check out the labels with each piece. EVERYTHING is precisely labeled - a collectors dream! Here's a close-up of the right side. Check out the Ordovician hash plate - mounted on a handsome wooden base. What a great display piece! Oh, there's more pictured I have not mentioned; but I'll end this post just by saying, thank-you. While greedy snolly is certainly delighted to receive all of these great fossils (many he did not previously own an example of) that is not the true value of this experience. The value is within the gracious giving. snolly's Santa (a gem of a fellow, who may be found hanging perilously from a rock face) exemplified the spirit of this joyous season - giving. I do feel that all who participated in this forum activity (thank-you Doren) did exactly the same. I hope many have found that the act of giving to others is perhaps the finest gift one can bestow on oneself. Amazing! I particularly love the coral and crinoid over on the right hand side. Exquisite! Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

I received some Middle Cambrian (stage 5 of series 3) fossils from the Spence Shale The back side looks a bit hash plate like... I'll have to get some better lighting and magnification and see for sure. The triangular fossil is a hyolith with Ptychoparella Trilobite. Unfortunately this one got the brunt of the postal services finest handlers, but we figured out the big pieces. My son and I would like to thank my Secret Santa for the fossils we now have a some friends for our elrathia kingi and rock show special Moroccan trilobite. We also learned what a hyolith was. -Adam Those trilobites are absolutely astounding and I love the brachiopod! 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. I haven't been on the forum for a handful of days because I was busy spending Xmas with family and barely had any free time on the forum. In between Magic (the Gathering) games with my cousins, beach walks (including an incredible fossil hunt on the Banjaard beach; report coming soon!) and fancy dinners, kinda hard to access the forum But I've missed you all, and I'm glad to be back after this short absence. Anyways, a bit late, but I wish everyone had an as fun Xmas as I did, and will continue all the fun all the way to 2019 and beyond! Time to show you guys what I got from my Secret Santa: Unfortunately, no info was given with the fossils... Nonetheless, the fossils are great. I especially like the goniatite (it is a goniatite, right?), it's only my second and definitely my favorite in my collection right now! The plant fossil is awesome too, my collection is really lacking in the floral aspect so this is an appreciated boost to it. Thanks a lot to my Secret Santa, and to Doren for organizing this super fun event! I'm already impatient for next year... Late Merry Xmas and happy New Year to everyone on my favorite forum!!! Max Really nice goniatite. Very glad you has such a great Christmas, Max. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

It looks like all of our forum members have been very good little boys and girls this year. Santa was kind to me as well with all these wonderful goodies. I am especially excited about the HUGE chunks of Indonesian amber. I admit I started working on polishing them before posting my photos. I have a lot more work to do on them, but have already found a bug clinging to a piece of debris. So much fun! Thank you, Santa! Very nice, Lori! Can't wait to see what you find in the amber! Tidgy's Dad
So what parachuted in for this Santa? (thanks to my friend from so far away, Douglas, for the image. ) @Seguidora-de-Isis Well, not those trilobites, actually, though a couple of brachiopods fell into my stocking from wifey. Look at the size of these Moroccan fellows: Here they are compared to the about average size of rhynchonellids I've been busy prepping : 7 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
