Another Carboniferous fish fragment?

After the last one (link here:  fish skull ) turned out to be a nice skull, I'm wondering if anyone could ID this bit? It's very 3D and hard to photograph without image stacking so I've given three views.

Phosphatic nodule, Brigantian (U. Mississippian) marine shale, Co. Durham, UK.

Another skull fragment, perhaps.

Maybe an operculum?

Thanks, Tim, that seems very likely. I really need some literature to get a handle on fish bone shapes!

I was thinking coelacanth quadrate or preoperculum. Could be something else though. Pretty angular for a paleoniscoid operculum though.

Thank you, I'll have a look at those.

@TqB Did you ever get a positive ID for this?

Thanks for asking! I donated this and a few other pieces from the same bed as the skull (which turned out to be coelocanth brain case). Sam Giles mentioned that one of them, presumably this, was a shoulder girdle. The others were mostly sarcopterygian scales of various sorts.
