Is this an egg?

Hello!

When I was a child, living in Northern New Jersey, I found a strange rock that I picked up. I noticed it looked different, so I threw it against another rock to break it open to see what was inside. The pictures that are attached are what I found.

Pictures 1 through 4 are from all sides, pretty much as it looked when I found it

Hi, and welcome to the Fossil Forum!

Unfortunately, that is just a geologic concretion - not a fossil. Sorry :(

Fossil eggs are very rare and don't look much like your rock.

Fossils, in general, are very common everywhere in the world, so keep looking and you'll find some yourself soon enough!

Best regards,

Max

Sadly + 2 concretion . I said sadly but we have quite a few members that collect them, they would not be unhappy with this one.

Thanks. I'll have to do a little research on + 2 corrections.

Just to make sure there is no confusion, by this

Bobby simply means that he also agrees that this is a concretion; "+2 concretion" isn't a special type of rock or anything like that :P
