Bone Daddy Posted October 26, 2018 Share Posted October 26, 2018 This is an oddball that I am having trouble identifying. Does anyone know what this is? It was found in the Peace River, Bone Valley formation, Hawthorn Group, Florida in mixed Miocene/Pliocene/Pleistocene deposits. Black cube is 1cm square. Thanks! Mike from North Queensland Posted October 27, 2018 Share Posted October 27, 2018 Have a good look at the smooth side for cut marks as I suspect this is a modern cut bone that has quickly been coloured by tannin in the water. And yes, it does appear more recent than fossilized. I was hoping somebody might have a general idea of what type of critter this might be, to narrow down the possibilities.
