Very certainly not an acorn of any kind, nor any seed/nut in the Fagaceae, and I can claim deep expertise there, since I breed them.

 

To me it looks like someone's "lucky stone" - a stream pebble of weathered basalt (?) or something similar with a cross bedded line of quartz, harder than the rest.  A curiosity one might pick up and keep.  Or?

Sorry but it is definitely just a rock with a seam of quartz in it not a fossil (but I quest it’s older (:   )

  I'll be happy to believe hornfels.  Something I'm really not familiar with!  The photo does look a bit more like something metamorphic than any of the more common simple basalts.  I've got a number of fine-grained mystery rocks I've picked out of my source stream; uncommon and baffling to me.  No fossils, though, so I won't inflict them on the folk here!
