I found this rock in a middle Tennessee creek this morning. (Mississippian, St. Louis Limestone & Warsaw Limestone) I would like to know if it is some type of fossil? If not, which type of rock/mineral is it? I’ve seen somewhat similar rocks around here, but nothing quite like this one.

Not really that hard to do, I am not as well versed with taxonomy as others here.

Don't think I've ever seen a rock that came with a grid pattern before.

I do wonder what caused it to fracture like that. :headscratch:

The first pic looks sort of like 2 rocks glued together.. with the seam not quite blended in all the way.. (maybe it's Moroccan) ;)

I don't think it's moroccan and glued, i think it has been fractured.

I am in the coral camp.

Honestly? I never once thought it actually was from Morocco, I just have a warped sense of humor. I know it's a fracture & it goes along with the weird grid pattern fracture on the backside. :)
