Hi all,

We were hiking at Arbor Hills in Plano, Texas, yesterday and found this little guy, along with another similar to it that I’ve posted below. Any help identifying is appreciated!

It is an ammonite with its original shell from the Arcadia Park Formation.

It might be a Prionocyclus sp. (We need experts to confirm this). See my post:

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

Very nice Ammonoids! If had to guess, I would say that you have a lovely specimen of Prionocyclus hyatti  (gracile form) and a partial specimen of Scaphites arcadiensis and are of Middle Turonian age.

I read somewhere that S. arcadiensis could be a variant form of S. Carlilense in that they are very similar other than S. arcadiensis' has courser ribbing. S. Carlilense is also from the Middle Turonian P. Hyatti Zone.

Awesome stuff...please go find more. :)
