Manticocerasman
On my last fieldtrip in France at the pointe aux oies, I found this specimen in the late jurrasic layers on the beach ( Kimmeridgian ). I am not at home with vertebrate fossils, but could this be a fish scale? any extra info is welcome. the specimen is 1.5cm long growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. Miocene_Mason
Yes, looks like a fish scale. It resembles Gar fish scales though I’m not familiar with the location so I wouldn’t know if they are possible there. 2 “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

Perhaps, I admit I’m not an expert. The only fish scales I’ve found were late Devonian and freshwater. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
