possible fish scale?

On my last fieldtrip in France at the pointe aux oies, I found this specimen in the late jurrasic layers on the beach ( Kimmeridgian ).

I am not at home with vertebrate fossils, but could this be a fish scale? any extra info is welcome.

 

the specimen is 1.5cm long

growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

Yes, looks like a fish scale. It resembles Gar fish scales though I’m not familiar with the location so I wouldn’t know if they are possible there.

that was my first tought, but are gar scales not more diamond shaped?

Perhaps, I admit I’m not an expert. The only fish scales I’ve found were late Devonian and freshwater.
