Max-fossils
Hi all, Saw this trilobite up for auction, I was wondering how authentic it was? I know that Moroccan trilo's should often be bought carefully, but I don't know how to recognize fakes from real ones. These are all the pictures provided, and I can't see any way to contact the seller. But the pictures still seem decent, so I think (and hope) it is enough. Thanks in advance! Tidgy's Dad
The most common type of fakery with this species is the carving of the spines and the addition of eyes where the originals are broken. Tentatively, I would say that this one looks pretty good to me, if I had a worry it would be with the eyes. Not sure. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. piranha
I can't detect any restoration on this well-prepped specimen. The eyes are missing a few lenses but otherwise appear to be authentic.
aeon.rocks
Buy if you like. And don't listen to any potentially paranoid folks... Real trilo! It looks 100% authetic as described! Would vouch there are no restorations worth mentioning on this one too.
Max-fossils
Thanks guys! Unfortunately the trilobite has now gone above my price range (as I said it was an auction), so I'm gonna pass on it. Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil. Not too much I think, but I didn't check at the end of the auction what the final price was. It went out of my price range when it got to 30$ (excl 20$ shipping), and for me that was more than what I could afford already. Max Derème "I feel an echo of the lightning each time I find a fossil.
