Hi all

Self confessed “newb” and probably just wishful thinking, but thought this flint I came across resembled an axe head?

It does, superficially resemble an axe head, but the edge does not appear to have been worked at all.

I see no signs of knapping to create a sharpened edge.

Wait for a few more opinions, however.

In the right context one might consider something like a battle weapon, but I agree there is no evidence that it has been crafted as an axe.

It looks like a possible raw material for prehistoric artifacts. The edges are all rounded / tumbled except the two parallel facets, and the consistency may look proper for arrowheads or other tools, but I'm not sure if it was selected to an artifact by our predecessors. Maybe they considered the material not enough proper to making tools.

Where was this found?  Looks like typical "Rootbeer" chert.
