KirtRatliff
I'm>I found this in western South Dakota and I believe it is a fossilized dinosaur egg. It appears there is a mostly developed embryo which has a face that can be seen. It is about the size of a bowling bowl and just as heavy. Can anyone help me identify what this is. I have more pictures avaiable. Thank you. Kirt O9
Raggedy Man
The outer surface does not have the egg shell texture associated with fossilized eggs. This appears to be a concretion. 2 ...I'm back.
Tidgy's Dad
Just a concretion, I'm afraid. No eggshell texture, or thin shell on the outside, plus embryos are very rarely preserved and wouldn't preserve a face. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. abyssunder
Welcome to the Forum! I'm afraid it's not what you think it is, but it could be similar to the one posted before here: " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. Fossildude19
I agree, but think it looks like a chert nodule. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
