More stuff from the Fossil Shed!!!

Recommended Posts

I drove out to my fossil shed yesterday.  I can also see now that I do not belong on the road with a stick shift and clutch!  Being that my left foot is numb I also hit the break instead of the clutch a few times!   But, made it back home alive with lots of fossil boxes and spent the rest of the day going through them.  That,,, was a ton of fun unwrapping and seeing some rather nice fossils for the first time in about 13 years.  Here are some of my yesterday finds from the Fossil Shed.

Was told this was dino poo?

Hey Ron, glad you were able to snag some more stuff! Very cool. I especially like the coral cross section. What tools/techniques did you use to buff that out?...

This was back in the day when we were raising kids and had no moneys.  I used my simple everyday 8 inch wheel grinder and then one heck of a lot of hand sanding with wet/dry sandpaper till it was ready for buffing and used stainless steel ruge.

Never have seen such a productive trip to a fossil shed. Turned out to be a great idea. Thanks for sharing these true beauties.

Sinohydrosaurus has been moved to Hyphalosaurus. Funny story with that is that two halves of the same specimen were described by different groups of researchers in China; one named it Hyphalosaurus and the other used Sinohydrosaurus. The earlier of the two names ended up taking precedence. Your Hyphalosaurs is a juvenile. Nice!

Thanks Ron, kids are now gone and we still have no money. LOL. I've got a piece of less impressive coral that I was hoping to do something with...maybe I'll take that approach...

Again yours is a very cool piece! Thanks for showing us.

Thank you everybody.  I am slowly but surely getting my fossil shed cleaned out.  I still have lots of other fossils in different places but the brunt of my fossil stuff is/was in the 'Fossil Shed'.  Some of this nice stuff will be for sale at some point in time.  the fossils that I prepped or found or both i will keep.  The stuff I simply bought has no meaning for me and just need to get rid of it.  But thanks for all the kind words.

OH, and while im sittin here in my office full of fossils laying everywhere, (i need to do some cleanup, and organizing) check out this big brute I bought in 1995 or 96.

You have some marvelous specimens and this tooth, what with size, shape and colour is an absolute knockout. :)

Thank you Jack.   Its hard to not run across some good stuff when youve done as much traveling and fossil hunting as I have done.
