Fossil expo in northern va

Looks like there is a small fossil expo next weekend Nov 17 - 18 in Northern VA

GMU Fairfax / The HUB, 4400 University Drive, Fairfax, Virginia 22030

I think there are only 20 tables or so, still if I can find the time I might go. It may be the same one that was in CT early this month, but I did not see it marked on the calendar for VA next week on this site.

The video on you tube looked pretty good, but not sure of the prices on the fossils. I did not see how I could add to the calendar though.

At the top of the page, select 'Calendar'...once you're there, click 'create event' and you are on your way.

So, I did go, and thought I would share my experience.

First the Cons:

Could not park close to the show, had to take a shuttle.

Some vendors did not take credit card, and the ATM was out. I ended up walking up about 150 steps to another ATM.

Pretty Small show, maybe 20 vendors.

Pros:

It was worth going. A lot of interesting Rocks and Fossils. There probably were bargains for people that are knowledgeable. (Not Me)

They did have a lot of shark teeth of all sizes and prices. Really small meg, or pieces started at $4 dollars, then the price went up to $600 I believe.  Apparently, there are A LOT of fossils found in Morocco. If I had more money I probably would have spent it, maybe on the amber with bugs in it. Any way below is what I ended up with on my tight budget. I spent close to $100, which included a crystal for my kid that was $9. Here is a pic of my stuff: which included the meg, two smaller megs, shark vertebra, horse tooth, a piece of amber, petrified wood and a few other teeth.

Some nice pieces.

Thanks for the report.

And Yes, there are A LOT of Moroccan fossils on the market. :)

Not all of them completely real.

Yeah, Adam tends to over produce and floods the market.  I keep telling him only make 50,000 composite Mosasaur jaws per year, but he never listens!
