How a poor Victorian woman became a legendary fossil hunter

Mary Anning was renowned as a ‘geological lioness’, with her

discoveries including the first complete plesiosaur fossil. Now,

centuries later, her town of Lyme Regis is putting up a long

overdue statue of her, The Independent, November 2018

What a great role model Mary Anning is.

The Palaeontological Society has an award is her honor celebrating a non professional paleontologist that has made significant contributions to the science.

Maybe TFF could also have an award in her honor too.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

"The Anning Award" would be kind of cool.

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

John,

We already have an award for collectors who donate fossils to scientific institutions. (Paleo-Partner Award)

Not sure we need any other awards.

Don't get me wrong, ... it is proper and fitting that they are recognizing her after all of this time, but, we have no real connection to her, or Lyme Regis, and already have the Paleo-Partner Award. ;)
