-AnThOnY-
Finally getting around to a project I have been wanting to do for a while now, making acrylic ID tags for my specimens. These particular ones (2.75x0.75") are sized to fit in the 3x3x0.75" boxes that I typically use in my drawers. And just for fun, my North Sulphur River drawer, which needs a little better organizing (and some tags) but I like it.
Kane
This looks top shelf. Well done! How do (or will) you keep the specimens from getting jostled about when you open the drawer? ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

How do (or will) you keep the specimens from getting jostled about when you open the drawer? They actually don't move around a whole lot surprisingly, although I am somewhat cautious not to close the drawers too hard, and I installed soft close drawer slides when I built the cabinets The loose fossils are mostly temporary, I need to get them organized and in boxes. Although I do like the loose NSR drawer so that particular one may stay as it is, still undecided.

jpc
Nice drawers. I am planning to build myself similar ones in woodshop class soon. What are the length and width dimensions? And how deep are your drawers? Did you build this from plans? And are they share-able?

Did you build this from plans? And are they share-able? I can share the plans indeed, the cabinets are modeled off of the Martha Stewart flat file cabinets from Home Depot. I think those cost about 500-550 for particle board type furniture whereas these cost me 350 to make myself with real wood, pecan drawer fronts and soft close bearing slides. Well worth the time for me! The plans are located here, modified however you wish. As is, there is about 3" of clearance in the shallow drawers and 5" on the deeper drawers. I do recall a couple of dimensional issues on the plan set as it relates to the drawer widths for cuts so after you build the 'box' double check your dimensions plus your drawer slide thickness before cutting your drawers. Feel free to ask me any questions if you have any, and show us if you make any!
jpc
Hey Thanks, Anthony. Yeah, I will do some modifying... I am aiming for a 36 by 20 to 24 footprint size and only one row of larger drawers.
