My visit to the Natural History Museum, London

On Sunday I took a trip to the Natural History Museum in London. I queued up before it opened at 10am and even before then there was a long queue. I have not visited this museum since I was a child and spent an entire day there (10am to 4.30pm - a long time). I was surprised as it is a lot bigger than I remembered and there was so much to see. This place has the most wonderful things and is an incredible place to learn. The museum showcases a Baryonyx, Sophie the Stegosaurus (the world's most complete Stegosaurus) and more! The moving Trex and Deinonychus are also really realistic in the way they move. If you like your dinosaur teeth, the Megalosaurus and Daspletosaurus teeth are out of this world! There is something for everyone in this museum and I would highly recommend that you visit here if you have not already! A lot of the dinosaur specimens are casts taken from other museums but they are still cool to look at. I had taken the photos on my SLR and due to the size of the photos I had to reduce the quality of them to be able to post on the forum which is unfortunate but it's the only way otherwise the photos would take a really long time to load. There are more non-dinosaur related photos that I will be posting at some point later on but may take me some time to pick out. Enjoy the photos from this section of the museum!

Thanks! You definitely need to go there! Try to avoid the peak times such as weekends and after 1pm as it becomes very busy.

Goodness! 

My eyes are aching after peering at that lot! 

What a wonderful load of photos, there are some beautiful things there, I love all the ichthyosaurs in particular. 

Very different to when I was there the last time 20 years ago. 

Shame Dippy's not in the entrance there any more, but there's some really good stuff there

Yes definitely has changed a lot since I was there last. Yeah sad about Dipply (the last time I went there I saw it) but Dippy is on tour now but look what replaced it! The whale haha. The backdrop of the museum's architecture is incredible though I had to capture the whale skeleton in a photo with it.

The blue whale's amazing and I'm glad Dippy's on tour and will find a nice home when it's finished.

So many happy memories of visits. 

I remember when the Natural History Museum and Geology Museum were separate and next door to each other. 

All they had to do was knock down some walls to link them up!

Oh Yes those are absolutely incredible and they caught my attention instantly. The detail in the paintings are outstanding. There is this one too which I didn't post.

Thanks that's all I will be posting! I had the entire day there so went overboard on taking photos! I think I literally took photos of the majority of the museum specimens on display haha! Oh that's really cool! The section of the museum with the Malachite and other types of the minerals etc was absolutely incredible you really need to go see it they have a huge room full of specimen's its impossible to see all of them there is just so many! The specimens are in rows after rows. The museum overall has so many specimens from all around the world!
