Allosaurus Tooth

Morning all!

Wanted to know if this looks like an Allosaurus tooth.

 

Seller says it’s from Dana Quarry in Wyoming.

 

Says it measures 5/8 at longest side.

Morrison Theropod teeth are all so similar that the only way to differentiate is to do a serration count per mm and to look at the shape of the serrations. I’d ask the seller to do a count on both sides for you and to take pictures and let us know if you get that info

Not sure you can say anything based on that fragment other than its a theropod tooth

Allosaurus is a good guess, but it is only a guess with a fragment like this.

I would say it's an theropod tooth but would not be able to id it to a species. What also makes it even more difficult to ID is that it is a partial tooth nevertheless that is not to say it isn't an Allosaurus tooth.

Positive ID will be tough with this one because it’s in pretty rough shape
