Caelestiventus is quite an unusual Triassic pterosaur find outside Europe because Triassic pterosaur remains from North America had been reported by Chatterjee (1986) and Murry (1986), who referred those specimens to Eudimorphodon, even though they're fragmentary. Therefore, Caelestiventus is the most complete Triassic pterosaur from the Western Hemisphere.
