I went to Pohang (city of korea) yesterday to hunting fossils.

this formation is a miocene bed that called Duho formation. it is famous for nice quality leafs, fish, crab, and even shark tooth.

So, i was arrived here with a big dream...

Actually i hadn't found something interesting in first 1 hour,,,,,,,,, only some part of leafs, little wood parts, and small plants.

Because i couldn't find something unique, i came down from outcrop and cracked another boulder stone.

But luck comes at that time!

I found 30% of fossils in this picture in that stone. and i even found.....

it is really hard to found 'animal' in this formation, but omg! i did.

this fossil trip was so nice... I hope i could visit Pohang before all fossil - producing areas( in pohang) are destroyed.

Spectacular!

I'm glad you had a successful trip and persisted in your efforts till you found some nice specimens. We don't often get to see fossils and fossil locations from South Korea and this was a treat.

Cheers.

Love the fossils! The leaves look like great preservation.

Is there much competition from other collectors at this and other collecting locations in Korea?

Those fossils are beautiful!

If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!

Actually fossil collecting is a really unique hobby in korea. I can sure there's no much competition about fossil hunting there.

And yes there are also fossil locations are korea. One is Taeback that famouse for ordovician trilobites. Like these! (Of course, have to very, very, very lucky to hunting bugs like this quality.)

The preservation is wonderful.

My gut reaction to your last picture is that it is not a flower but insect wing.  Cool stuff.  I have to travel to South Korea a few times a year and have down time usually.  I many need to do some poking around... :D

I can see the wing pics, but not anything else?  How come I cant see all the pics?

Not quite sure--they all display fine for me.

The first post in this topic contains 5 images. On very slow networks I've seen the image filename show up first as a placeholder while the page is loaded and then the image replacing the image name as it loads. Are you seeing image (.jpg) filenames in the first post instead of images? If so, you might consider trying to reload/refresh the web page. If that doesn't bring up the images, you might wish to try clearing your browser's history and trying again. Failing that, go out to your shop and do some incredible prep-work for a while exposing amazing fossils and then come in and try again. ;)

Seriously though, if you continue to have issues loading images--send me a PM and I can discuss this further to see if we can get you back browsing TFF properly. Rally worth seeing the photos as we don't get to view South Korean fossils nearly enough.

Cheers.
