JPinNh
Its real and it seems to be a fossil. Too bad the grounds frozen the other half probably around the same area.

-AnThOnY-
I don't see anything that screams fossil in that piece, but clearer pictures could change my mind. Unlikley that its turtle though.

Bronzviking
I agree with the others, not seeing anything but clearer pictures might change that. What do you see that you think it is a fossil?
JPinNh
Well being completely ignorant as to what makes a fossil vs. Petrified vs. Just really really old i was going on the premise that when I tap it it sounds like stone it has a general look and feel like stone. But I'm as green at this as can be and thats why Im here , to learn So again thanks for the info. And ill keep trying. Oh and I loose a lot of clarity when i crop so any pointers are welcome

One thing that will help with ids is to clean the piece off as good as possible. When it has dirt and roots stuck to it the details can not be seen. Usually a washing with water and a brush will suffice (if the fossil is not frail). Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Fossildude19
If you are looking in New Hampshire for fossils, they are very few and far between. Most likely, they will be paleozoic invertebrates. So forget about turtles, dinosaurs or cave bears. This website has some information to start your research from. This information is very old, (like 100+ years old) but is a good guide for modern searching. Good luck.
