Hey everyone :)

Hope you're all good

Some of you might remember, I was talking last year about the fact that I was writing a paper about the wonderful opalised fossils of Australia.. For numerous reasons (including some of which still persist e.g. high school deadlines), I basically put that project 'on hold' - despite the fact that I absolutely love opalised fossils. Unfortunately, the project will mostly have to stay the same way until late May.. On the other hand, I might be able to fit in some time, during the winter vacation, to do a bit of work on that paper :)

All the best,

-Christian

P.S. A lil' reminder as to why opalised fossils are so cool ;) :

Opal is not classified as a mineral (no organized molecular structure).:P

Whoops, that’s correct. It’s still one of my favorite things.

Yup, it's a mineraloid.

And is very beautiful.

Those specimens are stunning, Christian, and I know a camera doesn't capture all the beauty!

  • 3 weeks later...

It’s my dream to own an opalized dinosaur or wood fossil one of these days! Opal is probably my favorite gemstones of all time! :D

@Zapsalis I know how you feel... I'd also love to own opalised dinosaur material :) Or any opalised vertebrate fossil, for that matter!

Opal's also my favourite gemstone :D
