Tiny shark tooth. Looks like a megalodon.. surely not?

I've seen some pretty small Megs. Your tooth might be a juvenile meg. It's hard to tell because it is so small and partially worn. Do you know the age of the fossil or the formation where it was found? While more information may help narrow it down, I wouldn't feel confident in any ID that I give it. It's just a tad too small to tell.

Miocene I believe; around 15MYO. Sorry, i forgot to mention. Location is unknown apart from USA.

See, what really made me think it was a meg is the really thick root and the wide, near-symmetrical crown.

However I have megs smaller than that. Just so you know.

They are separate genera.

Carcharhinus is a genus, as Carcharodon is another one.
