The scenic east coast of Ireland has circa 320 mya outcrops.

We found coral fossils around a lake near Sligo.

The Liscannor Flagstone trace fossils  and what looks like coral, top center, in the steps at Cliffs of Moher:

Very nice! :)

Those corals really close together, near the top of the second pic, were known as Lithostrotion, I think, but the name has changed if I recall correctly.

The branching lithostrotionids are now mostly Siphonodendron and Diphyphyllum. I think that one's a Diphyphyllum but you need closeups and the branching pattern to be sure.

The traces are beautiful!

:) It's not a very sensible separation but we're stuck with it for now - you can sometimes get colonies of Lithostrotion with branching areas indistinguishable from Siphonodendron... (Same with Actinocyathus/Lonsdaleia and others.)

I remember seeing all of those trace fossils at the Cliffs of Moher.

Nice pictures, Gordon!

Thanks for showing us.  :)

I saw them too but it was 30 years ago when i was in my mid teens and long forgotten. The others on my trip were constantly on my case to " stop looking down, look up to see pretty things", the only rock I collected cut and got stuck in  the bottom of my foot, causing an infection that sent me to the ER in Limerick. Thanks for refreshing my memories.
