Fantastic point! I guess for trace fossils, the arbitrary 10,000 year is what makes it a fossil?

I was wondering about this same idea. What if something older than 10,000 years wasn't buried at all? I don't know if there even are any, but for arguments sake, something similar to a crypt, just blocked off, not buried? And non-mineralized(I think)prehistoric human bones found laying in caves, unburied? There's definitely cases of animal remains that are piled in areas by an ancient predator, or at the bottom of pits where many animals fell in and died, who's non-mineralized(?) remains lay undisturbed?
