As in found, purchased or gifted.  Were those found in Texas? If so what formation? I assume Pennsylvanian. I’ve never found trilobites in Texas. I’ve been to Mineral Wells one time many years ago. I didn’t find any there.

Here is a box of goodies shipped  from a land that is just OK...Oklahoma that is!!!

This was sent by my buddy. @MSirmon.

A block filled with Fox Hills ammonites, several "Chunkasaurus" bones from the Lance Formation ( one of which may be a Ceratops frill piece) and a big bivalve shell from Lake Texoma, Oklahoma.

Thank you so much Mikey!

20181225_143710.jpg

The shell looks to be an Inoceramus of some kind.

Here are some of my Christmas gifts courtesy of @caldigger Doren.

This is the lot of them. I got it weeks before Christmas, but waited to open it till Christmas Day. There was also a case of Chick-O-Sticks in the box. I forgot to include that in the group pic. Oops I just remembered he sent me a nice piece of selenite also not in the pic. I’ll have to take pics and post them.

They include some beautiful sand dollars.

Some adorable little dolphin teeth, I believe.

Some shells. I found some almost identical bivalves in Maryland in October.

More shells. These are very pretty little shells.

A cool looking rock, which I think could be an extremely eroded oyster conglomerate. It appears to have a couple bore holes in it. There is also a small shell in the center there.

These are a beautiful type of pectin. I love the colors and the pattern. The matrix is very lightweight too.

This is agatized whale bone. I didn’t know such a thing existed. Cool.

These are shark teeth on matrix. The center one is my favorite. It’s kind of a lavender color with a little peach or pink at the base. The camera isn’t capturing the color at all.

Awesome stuff everyone, thanks for sharing! :1-SlapHands_zpsbb015b76:

I hope you all had a wonderful Xmas!

Apart from the ammonites, I didn't receive any more fossils (from people) this year. Well... I guess the Fossil Gods did give me a very generous gift this year!

I went to the Banjaard beach with my mom and two of my many cousins (a 19-year old and a 6-year old), and boy did we get lucky!

Too much to talk about everything in this topic, but I'll make a report soon enough and link it here.

Let's see even more stuff that is being found/received from now till 2019... I'm very curious!

As cool as they are, those colorful STH shark teeth are always shy to reveal their true splendor on camera... :angry: I have the same problem as you!

Looks like just a rock to me unfortunately. A cool one, yes, but an oyster, probably not.

Although usually it's the opposite when comparing geologic and organic stuff, oysters are less regular than the patterns on this stone. Oysters really are the weirdest.

@Uncle Siphuncle [ Wowza! :drool: ] x2

@Shellseeker gorgeous tooth!

@Bobby Rico these are incredible insects! I love them! I also have a Ephemeropsis like yours, but it's nowhere as nice.

@caldigger awesome gifts, especially that big inoceramid!

@paulyb135 nice socks :dinothumb:

@SailingAlongToo very nice stuff!

Yes it is just a well stratified sedimentary rock. I liked the way it eroded and thought you ( Kim) might too.

I don’t usually buy fossils for myself. For me the enjoyment of fossils is in the experience and adventure of going out and finding them for myself and the pride in being able to do it, know how to do it and then be able to prep them myself. I’m still a novice at most of it though.

Anyway, I bought this for myself to play with and admire. It’s a dream of mine to go hunt the Fox Hills formation in South Dakota one day. So I reasoned that I need to become familiar with the matrix. . .

I got it for $20 on “fossilbay” as I call it.

I was even more impressed with it when I saw it in person. The shininess and glitter of it is like a jewel. I think it is in its natural state still. Now I’m not sure I can bring myself to play at prepping it, but I’m guessing there are likely other cephalopods or shells in there somewhere.

Then I said I’d post the other 2 items Doren sent me.

There was a group of us TFF people chatting and I mentioned something about how if I had a favorite store bought candy it would be Chick-o-stick. But they are kind of hard to find in my area. I’m not a big candy eater, but when I drive up to Arkansas to visit my family I can find them in a few convenient stores along the way. So I stop and buy a couple and they will last me a few months actually.

Anyway, Doren remembered and sent me a whole case of them along with the fossils.

This is a piece of selenite aka gypsum I believe.

In regards to this item Doren wrote “Don’t freak out I give these to everybody.”

So did you buy a case or 2 of them Doren?

I don’t have any carved selenite. It is very pretty.

I’ve picked up bugs at Jacksboro, Mineral Wells, and Bridgeport, mainly the latter, mostly 10-15 years ago before collecting pressure exploded, but I’m sure they are still in all areas mentioned.  I was once fortunate to catch a construction project a couple times at Bridgeport that contributed greatly to my collection.  Luck of the draw.
