Hi there. I was hoping to pick some smart brains. I found this fossil rock today in North Georgia. Near Cartersville, in Bartow County.

There seems to be fossils on both the front and back side of the rock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking a look.

Oh wow. Ok. Thank you.

Would you tell me what you do see?

Is it just variations or different types of rocks mixing?

And how exactly is this educational? there isn't an explanation or anything. It will just be a source of entertainment. Lesson learned by me. I really appreciate your understanding, and WILL NOT be posting again. Thanks.  Hope you had a good chuckle.

I am seeing some non-biologic origin striations in sedimentary rock, and not fossils. Fossils would have a bit more of an organized body plan distinct from the rock.

Let me tag @FossilDAWG who knows Georgia formations more intimately. There are some good areas in your state. Have you been to the Conasauga shale yet?

Looks like a weathered sandstone.

Sandstone can be made from many different minerals. Some can be eroded out and leave a coarse texture that fractures unevenly.

If it were bone the patterns would be different and more organized. if shell more solid and semytrical.
