britishcanuk
I got this tooth mixed in with a bunch of small Moroccan stuff and it struck me as something a little different. To me it bears a striking resemblance to Palaeocarcharodon, without the serrated blade. It doesn’t look right for Otodus or Cretalamna to me, it’s too delicate and thin, very much like Palaeocarcharodon. Any thoughts or suggestions on it identity would be appreciated. Happy newyear! Darktooth
I can't help with the ID, but that is a very interesting and beautiful tooth. Nice score! I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
TyBoy
Looks like an unserrated Palaeocarcharodon, transitional forms exist, I seen them before posted in the forum. Very cool. Looks too thin for an otodus.
britishcanuk
I have a couple of unserrated ones, very cool teeth. I have a feeling that the one in question could be from the same lineage, but it doesn’t look quite like a Palaeocarcharodon as much as the other two unserrated (or slightly serrated) ones do. I wonder what the last described ancestor of Palaeocarcharodon was.
Northern Sharks
My initial reaction was that your tooth is a Serratolamna aschersoni 1 There's no limit to what you can accomplish when you're supposed to be doing something else
