Mioplosus_Lover24
Found this tooth/tusk in South Carolina off the coast of Tybee Island. We went with a guide and she said it was the tooth of a Jaguar, but she said to check on here to be sure!I think it looks like a whale tooth but it is much thicker than many I have seen. Ramon
I see a whale tooth, I don’t know how it looks like a jaguar tooth. Fossildude19
We'll need better pictures to make any kind of ID on this item. Please do not hold the item. Take pictures of one side, the other side, and from the top looking down directly on the chewing surface. Take the photos outside in natural day light, and please be sure to include a ruler in the pictures for scale. Others will be able to make a more confident ID with in focus, well lit, detailed pictures. 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Fossildude19
I took the liberty of cropping and lightening your pictures. Unfortunately, they are too blurry to even make out if there is enamel on this item. I'll try with my phone "Life is too complex for me to wrap my mind around, that's why I have fossils and not pets!"
Fossildude19
Phone cameras are usually good enough. Take the pictures outside, or next to a window for optimal lighting. Make sure you don't get too close to the subject. Try to focus on the object alone, and not the background. Crop the photos afterwards, to only include the fossil, if your phone can edit the photos. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
