Dan howell
Not sure if this is a mineral sample or a worn down tooth of some type. It was found on 1-3-2018. Height 5cm, length and width 4 1/2 cm. Definitely grooves on the top with brown color running top to bottom between the grooves. Has similar indentations on the top to a tooth. Very worn along the sides and bottom. Found on Onslow beach in North Carolina. Edited January 3, 2019 by Dan howell Missed location

digit
Yup. That layered sandwich look is very indicative of mammoth molar. Even in a small tumbled chunk, that pattern remains distinctive. Cheers. -Ken
