pinkus
Was going through a box of material from Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey (Upper Cretaceous) and came across these two pieces that I can't identify. My best guess is that they are both concretions, but I wanted to ask the hive mind before I discard them. In full disclosure, I am offloading all of my Cretaceous material so if either of these is something significant, I will either be selling or donating them. Thanks Dave
mar2man22
That round piece does look to me like a crocodilian's scute. The other piece certainly looks toothy, but it looks porous, telling me that it wouldnt be tooth. I can't say much more about these.
The Jersey Devil
They are both concretions. “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal

erose
Yep, concretions. And they are most excellent examples of how those dang concretions try their darndest to fool us every day. I think it is their sole purpose to get out of that stream bed by whatever means necessary, including crafty disguises.
