Wolf89
I just got this orthoceras fossil from the atlas mountains if Morocco. I was wondering if they was a formation associated with it? I've got the age, but not the formation, if any. Thanks, Tyler

Jeffrey P
I know they come from Erfoud, Morocco which is in the Sahara Desert, not the Atlas Mountains.

Tidgy's Dad
They come from a region over 50 miles across in the Draa Valley - Tifilalet region of Southern Morocco. Erfoud is in this region, but as Kane said, I don't believe the fossils are found there, Erfoud is the number one prepping and distribution centre, many fossils on the net claim to be from Erfoud, but were just prepped, distributed from or sold there. 1 Life's Good! Kane
And just to add to that, one of our members had an opportunity to photo-document his visit to one of the quarries in Sedrar here: http://nautiloid.net/fossils/sites/alnif/nautiloid.html It is very interesting to see what these orthocones look like in their pre-polished state, in situ. 4 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
