hndmarshall
Location: West of Houston TX found in gravel load from Brazos River... Possible tooth fragment?...at first I thought it may be wood but the but the markings in pic 000_0609.JPG resemble that of Mammoth teeth. Not saying that is what this is just yet but I can hope can't I?. there is no roots and it is worn pretty smooth from the river and part is broken away....I also found bone fragments and will post the largest in my next post. abyssunder
It looks like a tumbled silica-rich rock with some banding, but I could be wrong. Carl
I agree. A darn good pseudo-mammoth-tooth, but I think it's a silicate rock, too.
Harry Pristis
I think it's a mammoth tooth fragment. The contours and enamel pattern are just too 'right' to be coincidence. 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
fossilus
I agree with mammoth tooth. These are reasonably common from the Brazos.
