Deer ???

I think it's too big to be deer but it is from an artiodactyl - the distal end (lower end) of the metapodial. I would say camel or bison.

At 5in to small for bison I am sticking with deer

I agree with 'siteseer' . . . it's camel, but it's the proximal (upper) end of a metapodial (cannon bone).

thanks guys. as far as i got was mammal

I just looked at a bison metapodial (aka metatarsal or cannon bone) and it looks thicker - more solid than that. I would say camel.
