Could you post a picture of the fossil?

Welcome to the Forum, by the way!

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

It is a trilobite. :)

Wow! What fast response on this forum!

Thanks MOTM.

Two more questions... which may be silly...I'm not a collector and know nothing about fossils :)

  1. How old could this be? (very rough estimate/range)
  2. How much is it worth? I think I'd like to sell it via classifieds

Cheers,

The species of trilobite is Crotalocephalina gibbus. It is from the Devonian (~359-419 mya), and was found in Morocco. They are fairly common.

As per Forum rules we do not provide appraisals here. If you wish to have a relative idea of how much these trilobites sell for, you can look at how they are priced on online auction sites.

Thanks Kane. Sorry about the question re: appraisal. I must confess I hadn't reviewed the forum rules.

This has been very helpful and I'll proceed as you suggested.

 Cheers!
