Wow, I’m trying to picture the geologic processes that had to happen to make that and I’m having a hard time. That’s crazy!

Here is another article about fossils in opal such as bacteria, fungi and nematodes. The opal may have formed around the life in a few weeks. I wonder if the insects in the precious opal may have formed originally in opal and not in amber.

If opal can form that quickly, you might be right. I also thought that it could have been an insect in unfosilized resin that got converted to opal.
