Hey guys,

Just purchased this lovely looking tooth however the seller doesn't know what it's from? Any suggestions would be great. A few people have said that it could possibly be raptor? It has some beautiful serrations. Looking for to your suggestions. :)

Thanks

Nice looking tooth.

Did You get a location where the tooth is from?

Can You do a serration count on both sides?

Can You post picture of base?

Hey,

I didn't, I don't think they collected fossils as they didn't seem to know much about the tooth, I think it may have been given to them or they had it passed down. I can post more pics when I get it :)

Looks like it might be from Kem Kem beds of Morocco with that redish color.   Its not a raptor but a indeterminate theropod.    Lots of unknowns with the smaller teeth in those deposits.  Nice tooth.

Yes I think it is Kem Kem. What do you mean when you say unknown? Also is it too big for raptor?

Most raptor teeth from Kem Kem are usually abelisauridae indet. Need clearer photos of both serrations.

There are no described species.

Is not a valid name.

Very little is published describing theropod teeth from the Kem Kem so we know very little and the best we can assertain is identfying some teeth to a family level like Abelisaurid, Spinosaurid etc but lots are unknown..   Your tooth does not fit the morphology for being a raptor shape, size, serration density being factors.
